Audi Q6 Mule Spied For The First Time: Spy Shots

by Sebastian Bivin

The Audi Q family is rumored to be increased for quite some time. There’s been talk about an Audi Q6 as far back as 2006 when it was reported that the company had registered the name in Europe. After two years, in 2008, it was reported that its underpinnings would be shared with the Porsche Cayenne to get it ready to do battle with the BMW X6. Well, it seemes as Audi has started the work to develope the rumored Q6 SUV and we can show you today the first photos of this car thanks to CarPix spy photographers, who managed to snap it during testing.

Since the beginning, Audi Q6 is planned to slot in between the Q5 and Q7 but with a more sporty looking body, just like its toughest opponent – X6 from BMW. As we can see the on this Q5 based mule, the Q6 will be slightly longer and also alittle wider to give it a more powerful precence.

As for the power is hard to talk at this time, but it is expected to be shared with the Q5 and Q7 models. Rumor has it that it will be offered with a variation of gas and diesel engines, plus a hybrid option as seen in the Cayenne. The top of the line model is rumored to be called the Q6 RS and may share the turbocharged 4.0L V8 engine as seen on the new generation RS6.

Finally, Audi Q6 will probably make its entrance into the market around 2014-2015 with a base price close to that of its opponent – BMW X6, around $90,000.
