Released in the fall of last year, the BMW 6 series also comes in an all-wheel drive version. The BMW 640d xDrive announces better performance than the BMW 640d coupe with a rear-wheel drive.
This 6-Series comes in two versions: a coupe and a convertible. The Cabrio does return performance which is a bit lower than the coupe’s.
This sports car is the first one in this segment that gets an all-wheel drive and over 300 horsepower. The 3.0-liter 6 cylinder still delivers 313 horsepower and a maximum torque of 630 Nm (as the rear-wheel drive 6 Series), but the performance is significantly increased: 0.3 seconds faster to 62, which makes for a total of 5.2 seconds in the Coupe, and 0.2 faster than the rear-wheel drive 640d (5.4 seconds) for the Cabrio. The top speed retains its electronically limited value of 157 mph.
The fuel consumption, although 0.3 l/100 km bigger than in the rear-wheel 640d, still has an amazing value of only 5.7-liter/100 km, which is more than acceptable (one might even say fabulous) for any sports car with such a power.
BMW will reveal more information about this car at the Geneva Motor Show that will start in about two weeks. Price range, release date and availability will be announced at that time. speedlux.com will keep you posted on any updates.
