The next big thing in the world of automobiles is the upcoming BMW model being called the i8. The car will be based on the ‘Vision Efficient Dynamics’ and is quite a mirror image of the production version as the images produced on the ‘Team Speed’ forum suggests. BMW which has always held on to its trademark white color have revealed the images of the i8 model in a stunning gray color scheme. In comparison this gray color truly suits the car than the white shade. The hardware of the car will include a 3-cylinder turbo diesel engine along with a hybrid synchronous motor in the front axle flanked by a full-hybrid engine in the rear.
The engine of this upcoming car is capable of producing an power output of 241 kW (equivalent to328 hp). With this kind of power that the car can produce, it can race up to the 100 km/h (62 mph) mark in just below 5 seconds, 4.8 seconds to be specific. With all these great beneficiaries if you expect some more, more you get. The car is light on your pocket in terms of fuel consumption, consuming only 3.76 litters/100 kilometers, which works out to 75.1 mpg imp. The car is also being tipped as an environment friendly one emitting 99 grams of CO2 per kilometer of usage (1.3l/100km and 33g CO2/km; EU-PHEV ECE-R101).
Well if that’s not enough the car will also have a separate electric backup for a distance of 50 kms equivalent of 31 miles. Combining it with the 24 liter diesel tank the same distance offered by the car is enhance by 650 kms or about 400 miles. Though BMW is yet to confirm the exact price of the car, Ian Robertson, BMW Sales and Marketing Director has stated that the BMW i8 supercar will have an upper limit of 150,000 Pounds or $200,000 as its price.
