The current generation of M5 would soon go out of production, as a recent announcement from BMW had so stated. Well it’s time for another round of beat around the bush. The announcement this time is about the BMW M6 sports coupe and convertible, which would soon vanish from the market as well.
It is also believed by automobile experts that BMW’s current generation M6 will kill the V10 engine. A new turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine would power the next generation BMW M6. The turbocharged engine would churn out a total of 555 HP at 6,000 rpm and 500 lb-ft of torque, most of which will be available at engine speeds ranging from as low as 1500 rpm to 5,650 rpm. This new turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine can at this time be found doing duty under the hood of the X5 M and the X6 M. An official date for the release of M6 is not known. However, the next M5 will soon be unveiled in 2011.
BMW is also expected to unveil its next generation 6-Series at the Paris Auto Show this year in the month of September. The next generation 6-Series would prominently incorporate a new front bumper with a massive air dam, a more prominent double kidney grille, reshaped headlights, and a completely redesigned rear-end. It is rumored that BMW has decided to keep the same engine and hence there are no under the hood improvement coming up compared to the current model of the sedan. However, there still is a small change in the form of a 4.8 Liter V8 replacing the smaller 400 HP 4.4 Liter turbocharged V8 from the BMW 750i.
