Buick considering a diesel engine for the U.S. – report

by SpeedLux

According to one of the recent reports, Buick could offer a diesel engine in the United States market very soon.

Edmunds’ source declined to say as to which model could get the diesel engine but the website speculates that it will be the Verano. However there is no official confirmation on which engine would be used for this model but Chevrolet had recently introduced a Cruze Diesel equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that could generate an output of 148 hp (110 kW) and up to 280 lb-ft (380 Nm) of torque.

Speaking of Buick engines, another source states that the brand is considering a more powerful engine for the Encore as some buyers are not very happy with the existing turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine that churns out an output of mere 138 hp (103 kW). However the sad part of the customers is that there is no ready option available as of now but they can expect a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder mill that could be added to the lineup but that would be as early as the 2015 model year.

Well we can hope all the best to the company and also wish that they get their act together as early as possible before the customers change their plans!
