Buick will introduce a new high-end line of automobiles under the Avenir name in China. The first vehicle to bring the brand-new name is the Buick GL8 Avenir. After that, Avenir are the Envision SUV and the brand-new LaCrosse sedan.

The GL8 Avenir is generally an additional glamorous variant of the Buick GL8 minivan, made in China by the Shanghai-General Motors joint venture. The upgrades to turn the GL8 into the GL8 Avenir consist of: specific seats of full-grain leather, handmade wood panels, an 18-color ambient light system, a suede ceiling and “74oz” floor mats. Buick states that the leather is created out of the “best American bulls,” which the factory can just produce 17 of these handcrafted seats per day.

There is more on the exterior which includes a special multi-layer paint task, special alloys, and an unique grille and front bumper. It likewise has Avenir badges all over on the front doors, on the back, on the control panel, on the door sills, and on every head rest.

There are no modifications under the hood; the Avenir is powered by the very same 2.0 turbocharged four-cylinder fuel as the basic GL8. It provides 260hp and 350nm and it is mated to a six-speed automated gearbox.

Avenir implies “future” in French. We read this name before on the 2015 Buick Avenir concept, which had definitely nothing to do with this brand-new Avenir line. The Chinese name hasn’t been revealed yet.

Purchasers of an Avenir will be received by specific Avenir-reception desk if they get in a Buick dealer, so they don’t need to wait for long. And if the Avenir owner pays a bit more he doesn’t need to go to the dealership at all; an unique “concierge service” will take and return the car whenever service is required.

The GL8 Avenir is priced at 449,900 yuan ($65,000), on the other hand the least expensive base version is priced at 289,900 yuan ($42,000).

The updates that will soup up the Envison and LaCrosse will be mainly much like the updates to the GL8.
