No one can deny the great success that the Buick unit of General Motors have been having in the markets of China. But now, they have an living proof of it in the Chinese Market as the new Buick LaCrosse Sedan have crossed the 100,000 units and that too, within less than a year’s time. This is one more reason for General Motors to get into celebration mood.
Going by the GM facts and figures, the ‘‘LaCrosse is the fastest-growing member of China’s premium upper-medium sedan segment.’’ It is the 3-liter SIDI designed model of the LaCrosse Sedan that alone made up almost 80 percent of the cars sold in this segment with prices starting over RMB 300,000 or roughly $44,200 USD, during the first six months of 2010.
GM also added that the LaCrosse Sedan has also won several awards in the Chinese markets which includes 2009 China Car of the Year award and has even been awarded the 2009 Champion Car of the Year award though what it means is anybody’s guess.
The new LaCrosse was also introduced in the U.S. market where the sedan went on sale during the summer of 2009 and was available with three choice of direct-injection petrol engines which includes, a 2.4 liter four cylinder engine with a power output of 182 HP, a 3.0 liter V6 which made 255 HP of peak power and finally the most powerful 3.6 liter V6 engine which provided the sedan with the power of 280 horses.
