While we did come across reports of the Ford Mustang having outsold its traditional rival the Camaro from Chevrolet in July, the trend seems to have reversed in August as the month did not turn out to be a very great month for the Ford Mustang. This is because this time the Camaro has come back to squash the Mustang, which in numeric term translates to about 6,321 units of the Camaro that were sold as against the 5,570 units of Fords Mustang.
This year perhaps is the most significant till date for the Chevrolet Camaro. Experts and analysts who are keeping a tab on the developments believe that this is due to the fact that over 60,000 Camaro sales have been registered as compared to 53,000 units sale recorded by Mustang.
Chevrolet’s spokesperson Monte Doran reportedly said that the “Car shoppers continue to be excited about the Camaro, which has been in the market for over a year now. As a result, Camaro has taken the lead in the segment with virtually no incentives”. Ford however, has a bad news and it is that the Camaro currently has no convertible versions. The Chevrolet’s convertible version will be introduced next year. Chevrolet spokesperson Doran has reportedly said, “Camaro is currently only available as a coupe. We expect sales to grow when the convertible is introduced early next year”. Thus, sales would further hit top lines and increase significantly once the new convertible version is introduced by Chevrolet in the market.
However, two new engines were introduced for the Ford Mustang’s 2011 model year sports vehicles. The automotive analysts and experts in the industry are anticipating that these two new engines will be of great help to Ford to gain new customers.
