According to the police, the Ford GT was travelling at a very high rate of speed before it crashed a power pole in NORTON SHORES, Mich. (WOOD). Due to the fact that the speed was way over the legal limit, and the pole that it hit was electrical, the car caught fire immediately after the crash.
The 24 Hour News 8 journalists were told by Norton Shores Police Chief Daniel Shaw that two people were seriously injured in the accident, but did not know yet if they might survive or not.
The accident took place while the Ford GT heading eastbound on Sternberg Rd. swerved to avoid another vehicle heading west that was turning left into a private drive, according to Shaw. Given that the car that swerved was running way faster than legal, it lost control and hit a power pole, catching fire.
The photos sent to 24 Hour News 8 by bystanders show that the car was totalled.
