Corvette Z06 hits a BMW M3 in a “Reality TV Series” Rally

by Alex

Video clip on Youtube displays a corvette Z06 losing control and crashing into a BMW M3 which was parked at the road side. All this happened during the amateur “Robin Hood Rally” which was held in Tuxedo, NY on June 25 and 26 2010.

No major injury sustained by the spectators and not even by the driver occupying the driver’s seat in the BMW at the time of the crash. The story does not end right here.

The rally is actually a reality show being showcased by the organizers using amateurs to do the race. The event is held on public roads which however are closed for the duration of the race and the roads are in the heartland of America. The event would be aired to viewers in the fall of 2010.

If one were to conduct a search for the string of words “The Robin Hood Rally” the result that is thrown up by the search engine would be very interesting. A similar race was held in May and then also there was a case of a serious accident having taken place. The promotional material for the show states that NBC would air this programme later in their show has been negated by NBC themselves.

During the race that took place in Berlin, New Hampshire one person has been seriously injured requiring air lift to a the closest hospital for treatment. This was reported by WMUR TV and details can be had from the stations web site.

The most surprising part is NBC refuting all statements by the organizers that they are filming this event for creating an infomercial film to be aired by NBC. The organizers have fixed $1000 to apply for the race and if accepted then a further deposit of $4000. NBC has labeled this entire venture as a fairytale one.

Kevin Sweeney who is the VP, Business Development for Robin Hood Rally has even sent off promotional emails and these have found their way through many forums like “Stlbmwcca”, “Grassrootsmotorsports”, “E90Post” and ” Pelicanparts” as also found a place in face book.

The latest news states that the organizers of Robin Hood Rally have worked out with VERSUS for this event to be telecast twice every week at 1:00 pm and then again at 5 pm starting Sunday , October 2.

That besides, there is the issue of two serious accidents having been sustained in one year itself that should put both the organizer and the authorities on their guard against such events.
