The Aston Martin GT4 challenge held at Oulton Parkman turned out to be a new and remarkable event. The design director of Aston Martin, Marek Reichman was be behind the wheel of their custom built model car the Vantage GT4.
Not only that, the co driver for this drive was none other than the engineering manager of Aston Martin, Mr. Chris Porritt. Both the individuals have a history of racing events behind them. While Chris Porritt has experience of being a GT4 racer, Luke Reichmann has been participating regularly in the historic races conducted by various clubs. The car would be production based car and thereafter be eligible for most other FIA GT4 races and other races being conducted across the world.
The Aston Martin GT4 has to its credit many a racing honors including the ones held at Dubai as well as the endurance runs at Nurburgring. It has also won six out of the total FIA GT4 races held during the European Cup.
Marek speaking before the race had to say this “The design team has been closely involved in the design of all our race cars, from the works LMP1 prototype to the Vantage GT4, but I’ve always longed to get even more closely involved and the Aston Martin GT4 Challenge provides the perfect introduction to GT4 racing for me.”
While his co driver Chris Porritt, stated “Most of my GT4 experience with Aston Martin has been at the Nürburgring, but Oulton Park is my home track and while I’ve raced my own cars there many times, I’ve never had the opportunity in an Aston Martin. The standard of racing in the series so far has been extremely high so Marek and I will have our work cut out to keep up with the front runners.”
