German automakers will have to take responsibility for the fallout from their cheating in diesel vehicles’ emission tests, Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer stated on Thursday.
In a statement provided by his ministry, he also regarded as “disconcerting” a decision by the European Commission to take Germany to court for violating air targets.
“It is the judiciary that is responsible for prosecuting crime in Germany,” the statement included. “It is disconcerting that the European Commission doesn’t seem to know this.”
