Ford becomes first automaker to bring Amazon Echo into their cars

A year earlier, Ford teased a possible combination with the Amazon Echo wise home gadget, so cars owners might switch on their home lights or search their music libraries from the convenience of their Fusions or F-150s. Or they can change it and ask Alexa to start their car from inside their houses. Now the integration in between Ford and Amazon is official and will be presenting in the weeks to come, the companies revealed at CES.

Ford declares it will be the first car manufacturer to provide real-world combination with Amazon’s popular smart home device. Other automakers are also working to obtain Alexa in their cars, however it looks like Ford may have won the sprint to obtain there first.

As soon as its available, Ford owners can play and resume audiobooks, order products on Amazon, and look for and transfer local destinations to the in-car navigation system. From house, Ford vehicle owners will be able to remote start, lock or unlock doors, and get automobile details using voice commands.

Ford will present its Alexa integration in two stages. The first, available later this month, links you to your vehicle from your home through Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, and Amazon Tap. The second, anticipated this summer, enables you to command Alexa while driving.

Ford isn’t the very first car manufacturer to try to incorporate the smart home and car– Mercedes-Benz signed up with Nest’s developer platform three years earlier, enabling motorists to manage their house thermostat from the driver’s seat.
