GMC trucks to deploy an adaptive cruise control system

General Motors

General Motors’s truck brand GMC stated on Friday its 2020 Sierra large pickup trucks are going to have an adaptive cruise control system, in a push to catch up with its competitors.

Adaptive cruise control system permits trucks to automatically adjust speed to maintain a set distance behind the automobile ahead.

It showcases a single high-mounted camera behind the rear view mirror and can bring the Sierra to a full stop.

The fight for a share in the high-paying large-pickup truck market is intensifying and already a few General Motors’ competitors offer this type of system.

The inclusion of the cruise control system is an indication that General Motors is moving to close gaps with competitors, particularly with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV’s new Ram pickup truck, that has been gaining market share this year.
