The Lexus LFA boasts of a 552 hp power rating. This combined with a price tag of $375,000 and what you have is a sport car which is well on the expensive side. Then, there is just 500 units of this car available making it an exclusive one indeed to have. The onus of responsibility on the driver of such a car is therefore quite heavy and to cater for this aspect Lexus has offered a driver development program that would run from 08 March till 15 March. Place for the training program has been fixed at the Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California.
Theoretical as well as track lapping lessons would be imparted by racing professionals during the program. There would also be lessons on performance limit exercises and technical demonstrations briefed to the candidates at the program.
Group VP and GM of Lexus Division, Mark Templin says, “This program offers a unique opportunity to experience the 552 horsepower Lexus LFA supercar in its natural environment. Lapping Infineon and tips from the professional drivers will certainly enhance the overall LFA ownership experience.”
The concept model was first displayed at the 2005 Detroit Auto Show event with the final version LFA coming out at the Tokyo Motor Show held in 2009. The production took another year and the first units of the car were available in the US only last month. By 2012 the balance of the 500 units is expected to be delivered with a few number yet left over for purchase.
The first of the vehicle was sold in Costa Rica and the owner had quite visible reactions upon taking to the wheels of the car.
