General Motors CEO Mary Barra on Wednesday informed workers that combining GM’s European Opel and Vauxhall company with Peugeot would be helpful for both companies.
“While there can be no guarantee of any agreement, any possible deal would allow PSA Group and Opel Vauxhall to leverage their complementary strengths, improving their competitive positions for the future in a rapidly changing European market,” Barra stated in message to staff.
Barra advised staff members not to let speculation about Opel’s fate sidetrack the automaker from performing its company.
Barra concluded by stating that no extra details could be provided at this point, “because we are simply not at that point in our discussions.”
