The Miata or what is more popularly known as the Mazda MX-5 is the most popular roadster of all time. And now the super sports car has achieved a new milestone by surpassing the 100,000 sales mark in UK. The vehicle had first arrived in UK back in 1990 and is now in its third generation.
The roadster is a rear wheel drive vehicle that has been consistently recording several successful sales. Year after year, the major chunk of European sales of the sports vehicle comes from the British buyers. The statistical data shows that this contribution from British buyers in the sales of the sports vehicle is around 40 percent of total European sales. Moreover, United Kingdom alone contributes over 10 percent of cumulative skills across the globe.
In an interview, the sales director of Mazda UK, Mark Cameron states with pride that “The legendary Mazda MX-5 is the car most people associate with Mazda”. Mark concluded the interview and said “To hit 100,000 sales in the UK is a significant milestone for Mazda. We are the biggest market for this car due to our love of open-top two seat sports cars. The Mazda MX-5 finds its roots in the British heritage of soft top sports cars and has been loved by British motorists since the day it arrived on these shores”. Notably, the all-time record of 9234 units of the MX-5 roadster sold in UK was set in the year 2007.
