Mercedes-Benz SLC-Class 2014

Rumors about a Mercedes SLC-Class started for a really short time sometime back as it was believed that the new SLS AMG would be called the SLC. For obvious reasons this did not happen but we can still hope for an SLC as Mercedes will bring in the DLC in an unexpected package.

The SLC-Class will actually be a smaller successor of the SLS and is all set to give competition to models like the Porsche 911.The upcoming SLC will be lighter and slimmer than the SLS thanks to the use of plenty of carbon fiber and aluminum. However it’s a shame for any so called successor of SLS, i.e. the SLC to be stripped of the gullwing doors. As far as the engine is concerned, the future Mercedes SLC will be equipped with two different options one of which will be a twin turbo V6 producing 350 HP and the other will be a V8 engine with an output of 500 HP.

Some of the less spectacular details of the Mercedes SLC are that it will come with a cheaper price tag when it is compared to that of its big brother. The prices are expected to be somewhere below the 100,000 Euro mark, or about $145,000 as per the current exchange rates.

Just to make you remember, the SLC name was used as a market name for the Mercedes C107 car from the year 1971 to 1981. These cars were sold in the following three versions – 280, 380 and 500 SLC – and were powered by either an inline-6 engine or a V8 for the top versions. It is expected that the name SLC, will again be revived sometime in 2014.
