The Geneva Motor Show event is going to be a trend setter of sorts with the display of the Vision CD roadster concept and the production version of the pure-electric 1-Series ActiveE at the event. There is also going to be the BMW’s new Performance Power Kit on display. This kit is specifically meant for tuning the firm’s 2.0 liter turbocharged four cylinder diesel engine, which is found on many models including the 1-Series, the 3-Series and the 5-Series range in both rear as well as all-wheel drive configurations. The upgrade kit would be applicable to both the 177 hp as well as 184 hp 2.0 L engines.
The kit includes an engine optimizer system as well as larger intercooler and more efficient fan for the main radiator. This increases the power output of the engine from 177 hp and 350 Nm to 197 HP and 390 Nm, and from 184 Hp and 380 Nm to 200 HP and 420 Nm. After the conversion the acceleration of the car from 80 to 120 kmph in 5th gear would be one second shorter, as per BMW.
There is also the option of going for the Performance Sports Silencer from BMW itself. This comes in two round chrome plated 74mm tail pipes and gives an added sporty sound to the car while improving exhaust pressure regulation.
