New car sales for last month, August, were up 9.4 per cent compared to the previous year, which means that for last 30 months, new car sales are on increase.
According to figures provided by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), an estimated of 72,163 cars were booked for the month.
This latest rise gives sales for the year-to-date past the 1.5 million figure, though the SMMT hopes statistics to begin levelling off in the future months.
August is typically one of the silent month when it comes to new car registrations, estimating up just three per cent of the yearly car economy, while September’s numbers will be speaking more about these assumptions, as they represents 18 per cent of annual registrations. The SMMT has possessed its forecast of 2.45 million cars to be sold out for the year.
