The Tesla Model S sure is a very popular electric vehicle (EV). Unfortunately, the company seems to have not produced any more vehicles after the Model S. Well, there were once rumors regarding a new model from the company called the Model X but there had been no details, at least until very recently. New details regarding the aforementioned vehicle model have now emerged on the World Wide Web pages. The car will reportedly come out this year.
The California-based automaker describes the new vehicle model as a combination of functionalities and spaces that customers can possibly get from a sport utility vehicle (SUV). The car is said to be able to seat seven passengers in total and that customers will get the ultimate performance if they choose the upcoming EV model from the company. In addition to that, Tesla has also confirmed that the car will be coming with falcon wing style doors. This, the company describes, will provide easy access for passengers to get into the third row seats, even if the car is being parked at the tightest parking space possible.
In terms of its energy source, the Tesla Model X will have similar battery options to those of the company’s previous EV, the Tesla Model S. For the entry level trim, the car will be equipped with a 60kWh battery. The car will have a peak power output of 380 hp. For customers demanding a more energy packed battery, they can go for the variant that comes with an 80kWh battery. This one sits at the top of the range and offers a peak power output of 691 hp. It comes with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) drivetrain with dual motors and can reach a total distance of 380 km before needing a battery recharge.
Shipment of the Tesla Model X will reportedly begin early 2016, as reported by the AutoEvolution.
