Up until now this year, 31 children passed away after being trapped inside parked automobiles on hot days.
Tesla has added a function to the current version of its automobiles’ operating software to help handle at least some of these problems.
“My favorite new feature is the always-on max temp control for keeping kids and pets safe from overheating,” Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated in a Tweet, last week.
Most of the time, kids who pass away in these situations are just ignored by a parent or caretaker after the kids fall asleep throughout a car ride. In other cases, though, a caretaker leaves a child in an automobile intentionally, not understanding how rapidly unsafe heat can integrate in a closed car.
Tesla’s temperature-control function will immediately keep the temperature level below 105 ˚ Fahrenheit– 40 ˚ centigrade– inside the automobile by instantly opening vents or turning on the a/c system as needed, Musk tweeted. The feature will stay on for up to 12 hours after the motorist exits the automobile, a Tesla spokesman said.
