Peugeot has recently released a new video of the 208 T16 Pikes Peak race car. The car is undergoing high attitude testing on Mont Ventoux in the video.
Mont Ventoux is well known for being part of the Tour de France and it also represents the perfect spot to test the car for the simple reason that it offers steep terrain and high attitudes that attracted racers as far back as 1902.
Driver Sébastien Loeb said that this testing was quite important because Pikes Peak is very different from a nice, smooth race track. He further stated that the testing would help them evaluate the car on a terrain that is more like what they will find in the States and so this road will give them a reasonably accurate idea.
As previously reported, the 208 T16 Pikes Peak is fitted with a twin-turbo 3.2-liter V6 engine that generates 875 hp (652 kW). The engine is mated to a six-speed sequential transmission and comes with an all-wheel drive system that enables the 875 kg (1,929 lbs) race car to accelerate from 0-100 kmph (0-62 mph) in just 1.8 seconds.
