Pixar’s John Lasseter Announces ‘Cars 3’ to be ‘A Very Emotional Story’

When it pertains to the world of Pixar, the Cars franchise is a remarkable monster. Derided by critics, perhaps a touch too harshly with the very first go-around, the experiences of Lightning McQueen, Mater and a likely frightened offscreen optometrist are like catnip to children. And most likely Larry the Cable Guy’s accountant. So exactly what can we anticipate from the 3rd Cars film? Something with a bit more psychological heft to it, it appears.

John Lasseter, Pixar’s primary creative officer, shared with Entertainment Weekly a chunklet of exactly what’s in the works for Cars 3. From his viewpoint, the animated feature will be closer to the very first movie than the 2nd.

“Lightning McQueen, he’s awesome. We’ve got some great new characters, some great racing in it. It’s a very emotional story. It’s a little bit more akin to Cars 1, where you get into a deep emotion with him,” stated Lasseter on Wednesday.

The character of Doc Hudson was voiced by Paul Newman in the very first movie. Even if you dislike the franchise, there’s a likelihood that might pack an emotional wallop.

A little information has currently dripped out about the new characters in the next film. Director Brian Fee informed USA Today that we’ll be seeing, “a young Hispanic female race car” in the upcoming movie. Cruz Ramirez is aiming to determine how this old pet can discover some new techniques, said Fee on this upcoming design.

Cars 3 is set to make its way into theaters on June 16, 2017.
