For those car enthusiasts out there who have been keeping their eyes on the latest car news, they should have known that the Germany-based sports car maker, Porsche, is rumored to be prepping a vehicle model set to go head to head with the Model S from Tesla Motors. Well, rumors are rumors, it seems, they are something that may not be proven in reality. The thing is, the German automaker has very recently announced that it has no plan of working on any all-electric vehicle whatsoever to face the Tesla with its Model S.
As reported by the Autocar, Wolfgang Hatz, the person known to be in charge of the R&D division at Porsche, has taken the liberty of pointing out how unfeasible it is for the company to work on an electric variant of the Porsche Panamera. As a matter of fact, Hatz was even quoted saying it was normal how there would be certain expectations for such a sports car maker as Porsche. Yes, Tesla is fine, too, but it will definitely lose performance or range immediately if the owner drives the car rather enthusiastically. So, taking that into account, Hatz has made it perfectly clear that Porsche won’t be launching this car in particular before the aforementioned issue is solved.
For your information, the exotic German automaker has been putting a number of electric vehicles into test. This is the case for the German automakers’ prototypes of the electric variant of the Boxster. However, apart from that, the company will prefer to work on the plug-in hybrid system mostly. The car manufacturer which is based in Stuttgart, Germany, even claims that its loyal customers are excited about the benefits that the company’s new plug-in system is capable of offering. Well, it seems that more and more automakers will be switching to electric vehicles in the future.
