Porsche’s Research and Development Head Wolfgang Hatz has recently revealed that many units of Porsche 910 Spyder still remain available for purchase as on date. The car is expected to be finally revealed in the production form at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2013 to be held in September.
It is also believed that Porsche’s McLaren P1 and rival of Ferrari’s LaFerrari will be limited to only 918 units. This number is less than the number of Porsche’s Carrera GT produced but is significantly higher than 375 McLaren P1’s and 499 LaFerrari’s pinned for production.
The executive was quite confident that once the customers get the opportunity to drive the Porsche 918 Spyder they will be lining up to purchase the Porsche’s latest halo super car. While speaking at the Shanghai Motor Show, he said that there were lot of customers who were interested in this super car but the not many could afford it as it is quite expensive. This means that many customers would even like to have test drive before they take their decision of buying this model.
He said that the cars will be available for drive once the first set of cars are ready and that they will be able to sell them all. He also stated that they had already sold more 918s than we had at the same point in the launch process with the Carrera GT.
The latest reports claim that that the Porsche 918 Spydercome fitted with a V8 hybrid powertrain which would also feature two electric motors and will be able to generate an impressive 875 hp. such power will help the car to achieve 0-62 mph (0-100 kmph) in around 3 seconds and will have a top speed in excess of 200 mph.
