When we say “facelift”, we usually mean a couple of design adjustments, without any performance or specification differences. Not in this case. The Porsche Cayenne facelift isn’t that much different on the outside (apart from the spoilers and the headlights) nor on the inside (apart from some new optional features).
What has changed is the torque thanks to the enlargement of the cylinders. The Porsche Cayenne uses two engines, a V6 and a V8. The V6’s capacity has been increased from 3.2 to 3.6L, and the V8’s from 4.5 to 4.8. This means that the torque is now 700Nm. Although there are 21 horsepower less than on the most powerful Cayenne so far, the Turbo S, the new Turbo accelerates from 0 – 60 0.1 seconds faster, and hits a top speed 5 km/h bigger. That means, that the sprint from 0 to 60 is now 8.1 seconds, and the car reaches a top speed of 227 km/h.
The transmission is now available in a manual six speed version, but most of the customers will probably opt for the automatic version, because it decreases fuel consumption without affecting the performance.
From now on, the sport button is now standard. It allows a more prompt response from the engine and a harder suspension for a better stability.
The car’s price starts at $60,000, and the Turbo version’s base price will be $90,000. Cayenne’s price, can, however, go up to $150,000 with all the optional features installed.
The Porsche Cayenne is currently the best sold luxury SUV, and will probably stay the same thanks to the new facelift version.
