An optional nineteen inch all season tires and a new brake energy recuperation system are now going to be standard fit on all the 2011 Panamera as announced by Porsche.
The new brake energy recuperation system works in a unique manner. It allows the battery to be charged while the brake is being applied. In the process the alternator current that charges the battery is relieved of this work when the car is accelerating which provides for greater power availability to the engine. The system also helps in lowering fuel consumption by 0.9 liters for every 100 km. The fuel economy rate of the car therefore reads as 25 mpg with its 500 HP model and 27.4 and 26.7 for the Panamera S and Panamera 4S respectively.
Porsche has also come up with the PTV Plus installed versions of its car. The PTV stands for Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus and its main purpose is to optimize the steering behavior of the car. The mechanism creates an additional rotational force when the car is maneuvering a bend and applies this force on the brakes inner rear wheel with the force direction being the same as which the steering wheel is being rotated. The end result is a more effective steering experience.
The paintwork of the 2011 models also is going to be different from its previous generations. There would be leather option for the interior and some additional special equipment fitted into the car like three spoke steering wheel with gear shift paddles and a speed limit indicator.
