Laurens van den Acker, the design boss at Renault, a France-based automaker, has revealed to the public that the company is currently planning very important future models to be launched in 2016. According to Acker, these new models will not be less important than the DeZir, an electric coupe that the company introduced back in the year 2010. This coupe was the key to the design direction that Renault used for its phenomenal Captur and Clio models.
Speaking of the upcoming 2016 models, according to Acker, it is not time to reveal just yet about the type of the new car models. Nonetheless, when the time finally comes for the French company to take the veil off the new models, people may well expect the arrival of the next-generation Megane in addition to a new SUV whose design is based on the Megane.
In addition to that, this design boss at Renault also signals there is a probability that the French automaker will take advantage of the styling cues of its Eolab hybrid concept for the next-generation Renault Clio. The Renault Eolab hybrid concept is an ultra-low carbon vehicle the company introduced during the recent Paris Motor Show event. Even the PSA Peugeot-Citroen embraces this particular model as well.
Acker claims that this car comes as a result of all the hard work put into it by the engineers at Renault and is going to be very aerodynamic. He even claims that all the innovations the car has to offer can actually be put into production right now. These innovations include a magnesium roof, a set of carbon fiber doors and highly aerodynamic body, among other stuffs. However, Renault is going to need some time to put everything into final process required in the automotive industry. So, as Acker puts it, customers can expect the car to arrive in dealerships starting from 2018.
