Report: Lincoln To Get Rid Of Its Waterfall Grille; To Be Launched In China

by Andrew Randall

Lincoln’s waterfall grille is one of their unique marks, but despite this fact, no matter if some fans love it or hate it, the grille is left out of the plans for the updated MKS sedan and MKT crossover coming next spring, at least according to Automotive News.

The current grille has been controversial and this is one of the reasons why the MKS and MKT grille will be “completely different” being “not as pronounced” as the waterfall and “more elegant.”

According to some interior sources, Ford might show the revised MKS and MKT at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, so you should stay tuned for details.

As a reminder, the MKS and MKT will make their official debut with minor interior and exterior updates. However, the brand focused on the ride and handling as Ford aims to differentiate Lincoln from the Ford division, so the biggest changes won’t be visible at a glance. In addition to that, the Lincoln MKS and MKT will get new steering, braking and suspension systems, according to the same report.

“Lincoln’s goal is to become world class,” says Christian Bokich, a Lincoln spokesman. “So we know our current products will continue to evolve.”

Beside all these changes, China’s insatiable appetite for luxury cars is proving too lucrative for Ford, which is now considering launching its Lincoln brand in the country.

“We have a great luxury brand in Lincoln, which we have recommitted ourselves to,” Mulally told Bloomberg. “There’s going to be tremendous pull from China to have access to these great vehicles.”
