Porsche came back to Le Mans after a 16 year absence and it would appear that Mclaren is considering a comparative move with a 650s GTE.
In a meeting with Autosport, Mclaren GT Project Manager Andrew Kirkaldy said “I would be exceptionally surprised if you don’t see a 650s running at Le Mans sooner or later and we want to be there from 2016.” Kirkaldy went on the say the 650s Gt3 is “not a long way from a GTE auto in a few viewpoints, in the same way as the center points, suspension and greater wheels and tires — it is a decent step towards that.”
While the organization hasn’t officially affirmed their arrangements to come back to Le Mans, Kirkaldy proposed they are holding up for the Automobile Club de l’ouest and the FIA to finish their new regulations before they will start constructing the car.
