One of the recent reports indicate that Saab was planning a coupe version of the 2013 9-3 which was going to receive the Sonett moniker.
The name of the model is derived from the three sports cars that were built by the Swedish company during the period 1955 to 1974 and the new model was conceived as a 2+2 coupe to compete with the existing Audi A5.
Various 1.6 liter turbo gasoline engines from MINI would have powered this 2013 9-3 Sonett. Infact Saab was also allegedly planning to offer an all-wheel drive, performance variant featuring an electrically-powered rear axle with torque vectoring for improved handling.
The car was envisioned with an extended wheelbase and shorter front overhangs. Initially the car was going to be sold with headlights and mirrors from the earlier 2009 9-5 model but in its latest model, Saab had plans to bring a facelift with redesigned headlights and various other styling tweaks.
The renderings of the 2013 9-3 Sonett coupe is available though it cannot be considered as a final design. From the rendering, the car looks quite classical and the car lovers and fans would be really hoping that the car gets final designing and soon enters the production phase. We will get you more updates as and when we come to know about it.
