Richard Branson Wants to Compete with Tesla?

by SpeedLux

In case you have not heard of this name in particular previously, well, Richard Branson is a very wealthy billionaire. As a matter of fact, thanks to his wealth, he claims that he is now even capable of building his very own version of electric vehicles (EVs). What makes things a whole lot more interesting is that he claims he plans to compete with Tesla Motors, an established EV manufacturer with proven EV, such as the Model S.

Recently, Bloomberg happened to get the chance of interviewing the billionaire in question at the sidelines of a Miami-bound Formula E race. During the interview, Branson mentioned that he and his company had already assembled a team tasked with the work on electric vehicles. With that being said, Branson points out that, all of a sudden, we may happen to come across a Virgin model that directly goes head to head with a Tesla model on the automotive markets around the world. Branson also claims that by being involved in the Formula E race, Virgin Racing is actually aided a lot, giving the company a smoother way to build a potent EV to use on the public roads out there.

Ironically enough, in spite of hinting at a direct rival to the Tesla Model S, Richard Branson goes as far as to refer to the EV from Tesla Motors as a sexy model, as sexy as whatever other vehicle models people can possibly find on the roads these days.
