Shots of the supposedly Lancia Stratos had appeared on the net recently and then once again some information which adds intrigue to the entire episode has made an appearance on the net. There has been no solid proof of source for these information and therefore maybe these are mere rumors or speculation.
Free Advice a commentator stated that it appeared there was a link with the 2005 Fenomenon Stratos concept. This concept had been designed by Christian Hrabalek who was a Stratos lover and the car was shown in the 2005 Geneva Auto Show. This even though the looks as depicted in the photo is far from anywhere close to the concept car. The spy photos that appeared on the net were supposedly taken at the Fiat’s Balucco facility. There is speculation that Hrabalek is behind the entire project.
The platform being used for the new car is either the one used for Ferrari F430 or the one for the 430 Scuderia and not the platform used to make the Fenomenon concept. The new Stratos is intended as a one off model and therefore the selection of the F430 is a sensible and logical one.
The body of the car is speculated to be of carbon fiber and would have been designed either by Bertone or Pininfarina. The car would be one that’s capable of some serious high performance and a sum of 1 million Euros is already reported to have gone into the project.
Fiat’s role in the entire project is limited to providing just the technical know how’s and its facilities and nothing more. There are therefore a lot many ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ for the end of this project though the concept did happen in 2005. Chances of even a limited production run is extremely thin to say the least though there’s no denying the brilliance of the idea.
If the car is ready then we can expect it to make its first official debut at the Paris Motor Show this fall. And if that actually happens then it would surely be a car to watch out for.
