The automaker by the name Seat has decided that it is time for the company to release a teaser image of an upcoming crossover vehicle model it is working on. The crossover in question is designed as a 2016 model year vehicle and chances are, it will also make its global debut during this year’s Geneva Motor Show event. After all, the teaser image comes only several days before the auto expo actually takes place. Or, if that is not the case, then chances are, the new vehicle from Seat will be trying to catch people’s attention at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show event, which is slated for September this year.
So far, there is no word yet on what the crossover will be called. However, flashing back to four years earlier, the company actually previewed a vehicle it called the IBX. Back then, the vehicle came in the form of a concept. Now, with the release of the latest teaser image, there are actually enough reasons to believe that this will be the final production of the IBX concept car. Judging by the look of the vehicle, it is going to remind some of the car enthusiasts out there of the automaker’s compact hatchback, Leon, and supermini, Ibiza.
Before the teaser image of the vehicle comes online, there had actually been some spy images of the vehicle. Thanks to these spy images, it is known that the car will benefit from the MQB platform, the one that is used on the Seat Leon as well. However, the new car will also be taking advantage of a plastic body cladding, a higher ground clearance and also all-wheel-drive (AWD) drivetrain, though the latter will be optional.
Touted as the big brother of the company’s Leon model, the car will be manufactured by an automaker from the Czech Republic, the Skoda. It is also believed that the vehicle may even spawn a new and more attractively looking Cupra with a bigger power under the hood. This new crossover from Seat is reportedly going on sales come the year 2016.
