The UK division of the South Korean automaker, SsangYong, has officially unveiled the Tivoli, its crossover targeted for the B-segment automotive market. As of the moment, the South Korean automaker is planning to launch the model in the South Korea first, with UK and the rest of the world to follow. In the automaker’s home country, the car will launch in January 2015. Yet, as for other markets in the world, the launch will take place sometime in mid-2015.
For those who got the chance to view the renderings of the car about a month earlier, they will not be surprised with the design that the model will finally bring. The car still looks kind of like some of the Land Cruiser models from the Japanese automaker, Toyota. However, one thing that is interesting to note here is the fact that the model has been in development for three years, in a project codenamed X100. The vehicle was originally previewed during the last Paris Auto Show by the XIV Air and Adventure Concepts.
According to reports, the new crossover from the South Korean automotive brand will take the fight to the likes of the Renault Captur, Honda HR-V, Jeep Renegade and the Nissan Juke. Dubbed the Tivoli, the car is actually named after a city in Italy located close to the country’s capital, Rome. Just for information, the city of Tivoli is very well known for the style of its people.
Stepping their feet into the cabin of the vehicle, customers will be able to enjoy a large trunk capacity besides other stuffs. Inside the cabin, both the driver and passengers of the car alike will be able to connect their gadgets quite easily.
As in the case of its performance, the SsangYong Tivoli will have a 1.6L petrol engine with four inline cylinders. The engine will also be compliant with the Euro6 emission standard. Yet, for more details, they will be released when the car gets closer to its official launch date.
