Story update: McLaren F1 on the way to England for repairs

by SpeedLux

McLaren F1 in flamesLast week something horrible happened as one of the fastest and rarest supercars pretty much burned down in Santa Rosa, California.

Even though the car was insured for 2 million dollars(not 3 million as reported earlier), its owner(and everyone else) wants to see it back on the road.

If it takes 1 million to repair it would still make sense as the car is very likely valued close to 3 million dollars.

According to Press Democrat, owner and driver Irv Kessler was on his way from Healdsburg to Oregon. Kessler said he has owned the car for two years and uses it primarily for long-distance trips. The drive from Healdsburg to Oregon behind the wheel of the exotic car is one of his favorites, but he has also shipped the car to the United Kingdom for a driving tour there.

After the fire McLaren was first taken to Canepa Design, a local body shop. Soon it was clear that the damages are too big and it is necessary to take it back to McLaren factory in England. McLaren engineers have not seen the car yet and have given it a 50-50 chance. We will come back to this topic once the car is back in England and we can hopefully say that it will be repaired so Mr. Kessler can continue his long road trips.
