The recent headlines have been occupied by the Toyota FT-86 model and now Subaru decided to release official images of their yet to release model BRZ Coupe. The stylish coupe has been targeted at European markets and will face stiff competition from established car manufacturers.
Asian manufacturers Subaru and Toyota joined hands to produce the new Subaru BRZ Concept STi car. The Coupe is scheduled to be showcased on the 16th of this month at the much-awaited Los Angeles Auto Show.
Apart from the one image, not much has been revealed by Subaru regarding the technical specifications of the new BRZ Coupe STi. Subaru has been developing their horizontally opposed boxer engine that is supposed to power this coupe.
It is speculated the car will have very sensitive handling due to the low center of gravity of the Subaru boxer engine. According to Ben Barry, deputy editor of the “CAR”, he felt that the rear wheel drive of the Toyota FT-86 is certainly quite different than four wheel drive of the Subaru models.
Regarding the power output of the boxer engine, it is speculated that this new four cylinder 2.0 liter boxer engine will produce an output of 200 Horse Power and 170 lb-ft of Torque for the wheels. The fuel efficiency has also been improved and the gas emissions are expected to be around 160g CO2 per kilometer. s around 160g/km for trim tax bills.
Subaru expects the BRZ STi to sell around 500 units per year only which indicates the car will attach a hefty price tag. However the pricing has not been finalized for this car model yet but if they make it a bit reasonable then Subaru can give tough competition to other car manufacturers in the segment.
