Tata Motors planning more upscale Nano

by SpeedLux

Indian car maker Tata Motors has made an announcement that they are working on more premium Nano variants to offset recent sales decrease, according to a new report released by Bloomberg.

The biggest selling point of Nano was that it was a very affordable car and was priced so low that even a common man can afford to buy it and this is how it was even marketed. But he company realized there were very few buyers for such a car which was considered as an alternative a two-wheeler in Indian markets.

Though the car came in news worldwide when the same was launched few years back, the company has managed to sell only 229,157 units since deliveries commenced in July 2009. Sales in the month of March 2013 decreased by more than 85 percent as compared to March 2012.

Karl Slym, the Managing Director of Tata Motors, declared that the company has no plans to stop the production or discontinue the model but infact they plan to make improvements that will lead to increase in the price of the car. He also stated that Nano will soon be available for a wide variety of buyers and at various price points.

There are no details available as to what would be the updates that would be done by the company but there are speculations that the Nano may take some cues from the Pixel Concept that was introduced last year’s Geneva Motor Show. It would be a rather tough task to revive the image of Nano which has been hit badly because of the various complaints received from the customers for its performance.

When it came it was hit as it was under 1 lkhs…but with the same quality the price has been raised..since it is cheap car i should not expect fine quality and luxury..right but the wheel size of front and back wheel differs i ask my friend not to get this car suppose got punctured then you need to look for the fixing of the puncture even after replacing your tyre. this is the only reason i ask my friends[frequent] travelers to stay away from it…it is good to drive in Citi…but not highway beauty. and night driving gets affected when i think of the above reason
