OPP said three people were killed in a crash between a semi and a passenger vehicle on Highway 401 in Ontario.
The crash took place on Monday evening just east of Maitland, in Augusta Township.
Two other people were admitted to the hospital, but police were not sure about the total amount of those injured.
An OPP Technical Collision Investigation team participated in the investigation.
An eastbound section of Highway 401 in the vicinity was shut due to the crash.
OPP has urged witnesses to come forward.
