Shin Kukimoto, deputy public prosecutor at the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office, stated on Thursday that he could not tell if Nissan Chairman Carlos Ghosn had confessed allegations of financial misconduct.
Kukimoto also stated that Ghosn is being held at the Tokyo Detention Centre and that the Tokyo District Court on Wednesday authorized detaining Ghosn for 10 days.
Ghosn was arrested on Monday following Nissan’s internal investigation triggered by a tip-off from an informant showed that he had allegedly engaged in misconduct, consisting of personal use of company money and under-reporting of his earnings.
Representative director Greg Kelly was also arrested on Monday and has been alleged, like Ghosn, of financial misconduct.
