Two killed after car crash on Highway 144 in Greater Sudbury

Two people were killed in a car crash late Thursday afternoon which took place on Highway 144, near Marina Road in Greater Sudbury, Ontario.

The crash took place when a sports utility vehicle (SUV) was travelling north on the highway, and while passing, crashed with a pickup truck travelling in the same direction. The SUV then crashed with a commercial vehicle.

Both the driver and passenger inside the SUV were pronounced dead at the scene.

The highway has a history of being involved in controversies over safety concerns.
