Volkswagen has unveiled the very radical GTI Roadster at Wörthersee event in Austria. The concept is very low with a notable low windshield, aggressive bumpers and a big rear wing.
The GTI Roadster concept is a real life version of he Vision Gran Turismo, a Golf GTI show car that was originally created as a purely electronic CGI entity for the Sony PlayStation 3 classic “Gran Turismo 6” video game.
Even though it is a concept and never destined for production, the engineers have envisioned it is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbocharged TSI engine with 503 horsepower and a 413 lb-ft of torque.
All that power is sent to the road through 20-inch wheel-and-tire combination via a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission and a 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system.
The concept weighs 3133 lb (1,421 kg) and sprints from 0 to 60 mph in an estimated 3.5 seconds and goes onto a top speed of 192 mph.
In designing the GTI Roadster, Vision Gran Turismo, Volkswagen tooke the visual concept of the Design Vision GTI concept car from last year’s Wörthersee event even further, turning it from a low hatch to a futuristic roadster.
Don’t expect to see on on the streets, but if you like what you see then turn on your Playstation 3 and download the virtual world version for Gran Turismo 6.
