by Max Richardson

We have lost count how many special editions of the Caterham Seven there are. The iconic Seven is still popular and the latest special edition is designed by Caterham F1 Team’s Japanese driver, Kamui Kobayashi.

The production will be limited to just 10 units and will be available only in Japan with prices set at ¥6,000,000 ($59,000).

The Kamui Koayashi special edition is based on the 125bhp Seven 250 R, and is distinguished from the standard model with an array of performance-focused features hand-chosen by the Formula One driver.

Linked to a six-speed manual transmission with a limited slip differential, the special edition goes from 0-62 mph in 5.9 seconds on its way to a top speed of 122 mph.

The exterior is finished in high-gloss black paint with matt black sport stripes, wearinh a number 10 badge on its nose – Kamui’s Formula One driver number. The front wings and rear wing protectors are finished in carbon fibre infused with a unique Caterham green lacquer.

Just as the Formula One car, the car is a single-seater and features an aluminium tonneau cover over the passenger seat area.

There is also a single-sided rollover hoop fixed to the rear bulkhead.

The carbon fiber dashboard is signed by Kamui Kobayashi, featuring green lacquer, there are carbon fiber sport seat, an anodized green gear knob, bespoke gauge inlays, a special green key and green Takata four-point harness.
