Volkswagen‘s new head of R&D Hans-Jakob Neusser has recently confirmed that the company is developing a range of budget cars.
VW in very well in the process of developing a lineup of affordable cars, very similar to Renault that has Dacia which sells at a cheap price but is still is a reliable no-frills car with a short list of included equipment. Hans-Jakob Neusser recently replaced Ulrich Hackenberg as R&D chief at VW and he recently announced on behalf of the company that “our budget car plans are progressing”.
He further stated that the cars will be co-developed with a joint venture partner and there are quite a bit chances that its name is SAIC. Therefore, the vehicles will quite likely ride on the same platform used by the Volkswagen Santana made in China.
In related news, Neusser mentioned that development of a four door replacement for the Phaeton is also at an advanced stage but he didn’t reveal further details as to when the car will be unveiled.
Well VW going for budget lineup is certainly a good news for the car lovers as they will get variety of choices and that too at an affordable prices.
