The Swedish automaker, Volvo, may not be too popular among the car enthusiasts in existence out there. However, it is not that Volvo vehicles are unreliable. As a matter of fact, the vehicle lineups from the company are oftentimes quite innovative. Now, if the most recent reports are to be believed, the company will offer an even more innovative feature on its future vehicles, namely the mobile refueling service. This service is supposed to enable Volvo vehicle owners to refill their fuel tank without even having to stop at any gas stations whatsoever.
The company is rather coy when it comes to unveiling more about its new technology at this moment. However, as reported by the Daily Mail, the Swedish automaker is actually working on a system that will send signal to a mobile fuel supplier to top up the fuel tank of a corresponding Volvo car whenever the fuel tank becomes nearly empty. Then, after receiving that signal, it is the mobile fuel supplier that will go pay a visit to the corresponding vehicle, use a one-time access code to unlock the fuel cap and then refill the fuel.
To some, this self-filling fuel system may sound rather weird. Nevertheless, Klas Bendrik from Volvo simply mentions that new potential has been unlocked thanks to the wide use of smartphones these days, such as connecting a car to a customer. Yet again, when confirmed about whether or not Volvo is actually developing such a mobile refueling service, the answer that comes out of Bendrik’s mouth is simply ‘maybe’. However, this is not to say that such a self-filling fuel system from Volvo is just rumor. This is especially true taking into consideration that the report has actually come from the Daily Mail, after quoting the Autoguide. So, all in all, the information is actually pretty trustworthy.
