Audi plans to provide plenty of diesel options in the US; R8 E-tron to debut in 2013

by Alex

Audi made some offers that ushered in a series of good news for the US market during its annual press conference. Diesel engines are being offered for the A3 and Q7 models at present. In addition to that diesel engines will also be provided for the A6, A8 and Q5 models. The A4 will get the incorporation of diesel engine as soon as the release happens of its next generation, tentatively around 2014-2015. But the best of the lot comes in the form of an R8 E-tron that is expected to make its arrival in America in the year 2013.

“Revenue for the past year reached around EUR 35.4 billion. It was therefore 18.8 percent up on the 2009 figure. The operating profit was EUR 3.34 billion, an increase of 108 percent. Profit before tax was EUR 3.6 billion, 88.5 percent up on the previous year – a record for our company. And with an operating return on sales of 9.4 percent we are right at the sharp end of the premium segment.”

“The economy also performed well in the United States and, despite initially weak consumer and labor market data, gradually returned to the growth path of previous years with a 2.9 percent rise in economic output.”
