Lexus announces the IS Coupe for 2012

by Adrian Hayden

Lexus is trying to create the perfect car to compete against the BMW 5-series. The japonese car manufacturer has planned a redesign for the GS next year. The new architecture will be the basis for the new IS, which basically is a sportyer GS. Lexus is expected to add a coupe to its portfolio, which already features sedan and convertible versions.

Lexus admits that they haven’t been very competitive on this market ruled by German car makers like BMW and Mercedes. Nobody knows why Lexus has not made this move earlier, but better late than never. Sources say that it’s very probable for the coupe to arrive sometime in late 2012 or early 2013. However, shortly after the coupe launch, we will be expecting an F version of the sports car.
