Mercedes-Benz will donate a diesel engine to the 2011 Jeep Patriot

by Adrian Hayden

Mercedes-Benz has agreed to offer its new CRD 2,2 l diesel engine to the 2011 Jeep Patriot. This new engine will increase fuel efficiency and torque. The new engine will replace VW’s 2.0 TDI. With this new engine the car will now have 163 BHP and a whole lot of torque available at lower RPM.

Equipped with this new engine the car now has 23 more BHP and 10 Nm of torque, but it also has a very good fuel consumption: 42.8 mpg or 5.7 l/100km and very low CO2 emissions.

Because of its new engine the car can now hit a top speed of 125 mph (201 km/h) and it can reach 60 mph (100km/h) in just 10.7 seconds. The towing capacity has improved very well because of the engine. The car is now able to tow 2,000 kg (4,400 lbs).
