2012 Aston Martin Rapide S to get a power boost with new DBS engine

by Alex

Our spy photographer friends are hard at work and this time they have caught up with a special Aston Martin Rapide that is getting tested at Nurburgring. Initially it was believed to be an uplifted version of the luxury sedan though it now seems we are going to be treated with even better news. For there are reports of the company preparing a monster Rapide by discarding the current 470 HP 6.0 Liter V12 in favor of the engine that currently powers the DBS. This means the new S version will be able to generate 40 HP more so that with 510 HP, the Rapide S will be able to better the current edition’s sprint time of the 0 to 6 mph run of 5.1 seconds.

Also, the engine upgrade will not be the only enhancement with the uplifted Rapide S as the sedan will feature quite a few other enhancements as well. Like the sedan will sport a killer front and back fascia, a lower front bumper with an additional air intake and deep scoops. It will also have an even more prominent boot lip spoiler and a reprofiled bumper.

The debut of the new Aston Martin Rapide S is scheduled to take place towards late 2012 and will bear a price tag of about £200,000 or about $325,000 according to the present rates.
